EAGLEBY NOW

This is Eagleby now

This website is dedicated to protecting the Eagleby Community and our complex wetlands and huge flood plain from the proposed 6 lane motorway, Coomera Connector, traversing this significant area.

TMR (Transport and Main Roads) want to build a major highway on the eastern side of Eagleby. It will mean we will be trapped on three sides by major highways - the M1 and the proposed Coomera Connector Stage 2. The effects will be enormous.

FUTURE

This is Eagleby's possible future

Our wetlands will be destroyed! Our plants, birds and green areas will be totally demolished forever under a raised road on pylons.

Water flow will be interrupted due to the building of three extra bridges across the Logan and Albert Rivers. Bridge embankments and pylons act as a dam, pushing flood water higher. We believe this will result in increased flooding in and around Eagleby as well as upstream in towns in the Logan and Albert River valleys.

Our large floodplain has protected many towns in the past but this will end if the Coomera Connector is built.

Downstream turbulence will decimate international migratory bird habitats in Ramsar protected wetlands of Moreton Bay.

You will be affected during the building stage. Fryar and River Hills Roads will be a nightmare; Trucks, Dust, Congestion and noise pollution. This will likely take 2 to 3 years. After construction we will be in a Valley of sound, light and pollution on three sides.

What a future we will have!
